While searching for an image of the book to post, I came across this image...which is indicative of a description of what I might try to attempt at the scale of spatial intervention. This is an image from the book.
Tracking the progress of research and investigation relative to spring 2017 sabbatical from Columbia College Chicago. Attempting to establish a dialog between digital ideation and fabrication AND manual or analog ideation and fabrication.

Day 20
I realized I've yet to put in background information, and references being utilized. Many moons ago, I purchased "Digital Fabrications" by Princeton Architectural Press (Lisa Iwamoto: author). As prep for this current investigation, I've finally gotten around to reading it. Well written and inspirational.

Day 16
Examples of first attempt to replicate the Osage Orange (from memory). Attempted to change file format of scan from STL to OBJ....with not a great deal of success. FF staff recommended importing into Rhino and converting. That will have to wait until another trip to campus.

Day 6
The track of the sabbatical 2017 has begun. I've been planning, for over a year now (since the sabbatical was delayed one year), to teach myself Rhino, in order to complete the digital modeling portion of this investigation. Lately, after viewing i.materialise [https://i.materialise.com], I've been considering using a different application. Discussed this with a few folks who are more versed in this than I, and looking into meshmixer and sculptris.
I had an example of the Osage Orange scanned in November, before it began to rot. These don't last very long once they fall from the tree. Luckily, there's dozens and dozens of the trees within a short walk of the farm.

Thanks to Columbia College Chicago, I have access to Lynda.com. I began reviewing the "training" videos for Sculptris. Cute seal!
